Proxmark 5

The Proxmark is the industry standard device for RFID analysis, providing multi-frequency reading, writing, emulating, demodulation, sniffing and cracking across almost any RFID system and frequency.

The Proxmark 5 is a generational upgrade over the Proxmark 3, covering both operational improvements and adding new functionality. The upgraded system core brings increased frequency range, optimised RFID performance, improved stability, faster operations.

The fully redesigned core is faster, more stable, supports more frequencies. The redesigned antennas are hot-swappable and feature dynamic power adjustment - meaning better performance in challenging conditions, further read-range and “no dead-spots”. The modular architecture allows for drop-in modules (like the wireless module), expansion via GPIO, and even pairing with the Flipper Zero.

Users can now connect two Proxmark 5 devices to perform relay attacks: one device reads the original card and transmits its data wirelessly to another device positioned on a reader, enabling a new class of RFID audit capability.

The Proxmark 5 was designed in close collaboration with the Proxmark community; all functionality and features are integrated and supported in the “iceman” firmware.

Functionality

The Proxmark 5 is the most advanced and complete RFID research platform available, covering high-level functions (read, write, emulate, clone), pentest and audit oriented functionality (cracking, sniffing and relay) and low-level functions (interacting with the bit-stream, demodulating raw frames, analysing protocols).

Designed, oriented and optimised towards technical users, the Proxmark device is controlled via its command-line interface (CLI) in a wired or wireless context. New users should expect a learning curve - but are supported by extensive documentation and tutorials, and welcomed by the active Discord and Github communities.
